2007 Topps Finest Baseball Rookie Finest Moments Melky Cabrera Autograph

Today’s installment brings us card #21 in the autograph set titled “Rookie Robbery”. The card celebrates Melky’s defensive prowess, noting a game in 2006 where he robbed Manny Ramirez of a game-tying home run in the eight inning.

Most Yankees fans will remember the Milk Man. He made his debut in late 2005 and was there until 2009. After he left the Yankees, he bounced around quite a bit, with stops in Atlanta (traded from Yankees), Kansas City, San Francisco (traded from KC), Toronto, Chicago, back to Kansas City (traded from Chicago), Cleveland and finally Pittsburgh. In total, 8 different clubs over a 15 year career.

Melky was a good player batting 285, 144 home runs, 854 RBIs, and 1,962 hits over his career. He was an All-Star in 2012 (Giants) and a World Series Champion in 2009 (Yankees). He did hit for the cycle in 2009, holds San Francisco’s record for most hits in a month at 50, an All-Star Game MVP, and suspended 50 games in 2012 (missed the 2012 World Series because of it). He last played in 2021 Caribbean Series, before announcing his retirement in January 2022.
